FAQ
What is Beer + Bible?
As you can imagine we get a lot of questions and we’ve tried really hard to compile a list of the most common ones here. If you still don’t find what you’re looking for check out Our Belief or Contact Us for more info!
Yes! We see absolutely no issue with drinking in moderation. Jesus’ first miracle was making wine (John 2:1-11) and there was no way of making wine without fermentation in that period. Here’s a big thanks to Mr. Welch for figuring out how to stop the fermentation process, thus creating grape juice, 1800 years later in 1869. Not to mention, what better place to reach the lost than where they hang out already?
Though we love a good cold one, we do believe that crossing that line of intoxication is sinful (Galatians 5:19-20, Ephesians 5:18) and we don’t encourage or permit drunkenness at our events.
Grew up in church? Great! Never set foot in a church? Awesome. Somewhere in between? Glad to have you! We do, however, want to be clear that we’re usually drinking at our events and strive to ensure that we don’t cause anyone to stumble; if you’ve struggled with overindulgence or alcoholism in the past, we’re happy to find you another Biblically-based study that may be more tailored to your situation.
Scrubs… if you happen to be in a field that requires them, that is. Whatever you’re wearing for your normal day-to-day is usually good but we do appreciate a little modesty so nobody gets distracted. Keep in mind that some of our locations aren’t always climate controlled so you may want to reach out if you think you may need some additional guidance.
Most of our meetings have other options for both food and drink. Reach out and let us know which location you’re interested in joining and we’ll gladly give you a status update.
Not at all. We appreciate having members from all beliefs and backgrounds so long as your intent is to learn and contribute in a constructive way.
Nope! We believe, in its simplest form, that the Church exists in any place where worship, community, and mission collide. In that sense, we are a church – just not in the American way. Most of our members have churches that they attend in addition to B&B, however, and would be glad to have you join.
Absolutely! We strive to meet as frequently as possible for fellowship and mission events as a group. We also encourage growing together in one-on-one or small group atmospheres outside of our normal meeting times. We’ve been known to throw a July 4th party, play tennis, go bowling, and, of course, grab a drink from time to time.
We really don’t want your money! That being said, if and only if you’re feeling called to give to the group after you’ve been coming for a while you can always speak with your group facilitator and see if there are any needs that can be met directly in the Beer & Bible community.
We have affiliated groups because we believe in having accountability and structure with other leaders. We share ideas and resources and, though each group is a little different, we agree on a set of pillars that each group abides by. If you’re in a position that allows you to facilitate a group like B&B feel free to reach out; all of our leaders are ecstatic for the opportunity to share what we do with you in more detail.
